NCC
NCC

One of the aims of the NCC is " to create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for service of the nation". Likewise, the ultimate aim of the education is to make student a better citizen , committed for the nation.  Involvement of students in outreach activities and community service during his formative years in the institution, instill in them a sense of social commitment and keeps the Nation uppermost in all other priorities of the life. Depleting forest cover and polluting environment are the biggest challenges of every modern society.
The aims of NCC, inter alia , envisions development of spirit of adventure, comradeship , discipline and leadership amongst youth of the country and to achieve this aim, certain adventure activities like Trek, River Rafting, Marathon Race etc are required to be conducted regularly. NCC aims also stipulate inculcation of development of ideal of selfless service and for which awareness and sensitivities towards issues of social concerns need to be developed in cadets. The Unit plans to conduct environmental awareness camps, involvement of cadets in national missions like AIDS, Pulse Polio Pragramme, adoption of a destitute village as a NCC Village and such activities conducive to the inculcation of social and national values in the cadets.
Opening and Closing Ceremonies and observance of NCC Day are not just rituals , an institution is obliged to perform but more so, are the indispensable part of NCC Training. By organizing these activities , Cadets have the interaction with and rare opportunity to listen to the high profile officers and academicians and are greatly enthused & motivated to achieve the aims are NCC. NCC then is not an isolated activity but becomes an ideal for the entire student strength   of the institution. Myths are broken and people are exposed to the realities and cadets to the practical side of training.

NCC Cadets may play a major role in preservation of forest wealth and protection of  environment to the benefit of themselves and other stakeholders .Such an involvement , on the one hand , will enrich the knowledge of cadets about forests/ environment related issues and afford them an opportunity to mitigate such problems , on the other, will strengthen their sense of social involvement / commitment towards national reconstruction.    The cadets may be involved in creating forest inventory, organize environment camps to disseminate awareness about protection and management of forests, enrich the data base of fauna and flora of the area,  elicit and propagate traditional knowledge in the preservation and exploitation of forest wealth and thus assist in making the lives of tribals worth living without prejudice to the health of the forests.

Article: 51-A Fundamental Duties, inter alia, provides that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to ' protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes. rivers and wild life and to have compassion for living creatures' . National Environment Policy-2004 requires for formulating an appropriate methodology for reckoning and restoring the environmental values of forests, which are unavoidably diverted to other uses'. The Policy also lays stress on the " Environmental education , a principal means for  enhancing the requisite  awareness , both among public at large and among focussed groups. Such education may be formal or informal or a combination of both. It may rely on educational institutions at different levels........"  However, the success of the environmental education will depend on its being related to real life situations as they exist in our country. There is an urgent need to gear up our activities concerning environmental education in our country. While it is true that there is general awareness at certain levels , it is a sad fact that this awareness has not reached the grass root level with the effect that many of those affected are living in blissful ignorance
And it is here that the NCC Cadets may play a major role in preservation of forest wealth and protection of  environment to the benefit of themselves and other stakeholders .Such an involvement , on the one hand , will enrich the knowledge of cadets about forests/ environment related issues and afford them an opportunity to mitigate such problems , on the other, will strengthen their sense of social involvement / commitment towards national reconstruction.

Duty and Discipline

To obey God's orders as delivered by conscience that is duty, to obey man's orders as issued by rightful authority that is discipline. The foundation of both alike is denial of self for a higher good, unless the lesson of duty be first learnt , the lesson of discipline be but imperfectly understood.
